KARACHI: Amir Paracha, chairman and CEO of Unilever Pakistan Limited, spoke about his professional journey and the challenges he faced as one of the youngest CEOs in the country at a speakers’ session organised by Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC), a statement said on Monday.
The session, titled “Hitting the Bulls’ Eye”, was part of SSGC’s Synergy-Talks series, aimed at providing a platform for learning and inspiration for its employees and executives. The event was held at SSGC’s head office auditorium and was attended by a large number of SSGC’s senior management and staff.
Paracha shared his insights and experiences from his 27-year career in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector. He started his career as a retail analyst at Shell Pakistan Limited then joined Unilever Pakistan in 1997 as a brand manager and rose through the ranks to become the CEO.
Paracha attributed his success to his persistence, rebellious streak, discipline and value system that he learned from his school and college days.
He also highlighted the challenges and opportunities that he faced as the CEO of Unilever Pakistan, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic and said that he and his team launched a major campaign to ensure nation-wide hygiene through Unilever’s products and also focused on creating a healthy financial bottom line, equitable socio-economic opportunities and fair living wages for his employees.
The audience also participated in the interactive session and sought Paracha’s advice and guidance on various aspects of their professional development.
